House Closing Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning at 8 AM we will be closing on our 1st home! Then, we’ll go back to work for the rest of the day dreaming of when we get to walk in it for the first time as homeowners, haha.¬†My mother-in-law pointed out that our offer was accepted on the house on my dad’s birthday and we’re closing on the house on Michael’s step-dad’s birthday. Pretty cool! (Or as Larry David would say…”Preeettty GOOOD…preetty…pretty goood.”)

We couldn’t help but go to Home Depot tonight to pick up a couple things…the wallpaper stripping begins Saturday. ūüôā

I’ll be sure to add photos of the progress to come; I believe the kitchen will be our first major room to tackle. We have big plans for this room: new paint, hardware, countertops, backsplash tile, and updating the appliances with stainless steel contact paper (that will be fun!).

It’s April already?!!

I realized today that my last post here was in November, which is unbelievable. Time has flown by so fast and I’ve done so many things (I’ve said this before: see example HERE).

In order to update you, I’ll break it down to the top 10 things that happened while I was away:

1. Spent time with family over the holidays which was well needed.

2. I got a Kindle for Christmas and made a cover for it that I am so proud of.

3. I went to San Francisco and the weather was beyond beautiful. Funny enough, I watched the Alcatraz premier while sitting in my San Fran hotel room painting my nails.

4. I also visited Los Angeles and walked on Mulholland Drive.

5. I also enjoyed the most amazing macaroons in LA at Botega Louie. (I then tried to make macaroons when I got home and that didn’t work out very will. Someday when my pride is back I’ll try again.)

6. Michael and I finally found a toy for Lucy that she loves: a catnip ball.

7. I rocked what I call “Lady Gaga” nails.

8. I finally finished my quilt! I love it so much, it’s my favorite.

9. I almost killed an ivy plant with my lack of plant knowledge, but it’s starting to make a comeback.

10. Oh yeah, and we bought a HOUSE!

We should close on the house in the next week or so and I seriously can’t wait to get in there and start decorating. First thing to go is the canopy over the front door.

Keep an eye out for house updates and hopefully I can set a consistent blogging schedule for myself to track our progress.

Monday Night Shopping is having a FREE Shipping promo until Wednesday of this week on orders over $21. Now, this may be a tween/teen store, but they have some great jewelry (most of their necklaces are $6 or less) and I waited to order just long enough!

Here are a couple that I just bought tonight:

While you’re shopping, check out Etsy shop Monster Gallery for some vintage inspired posters. Michael LOVES (and constantly quotes) The Royal Tenenbaums, so when I found this seller I knew we had to buy this poster.

These are also a couple of my favorites from his store:

The weekend is so close!

Tonight we had pizza (Papa Johns) and my favorite pop (Sierra Mist). We have 6 random strangers staying with us which is a long story but here’s the jist: Michael barely knew this one guy from school (1) who is married (2) and playing in a band with four other guys (6). They need a place to stay or they will sleep in their van, so I guess we didn’t have a choice when they asked. :\

Anyways…on a happy note, I have lots of goodies today:

Birds + Cupcakes + Sheep = LOVE. See more of Lisa Congdon’s paintings here.

Pretty alphabets. These were just pictures, not real typefaces. BUT! You can click on the picture and save them for yourself. I’m going to trace them for monograms or ‘designy’ things that only use a few letters.

And some robots thrown in for fun.

Citris Slice Mini Booklets at The Petite Press. However, I’m a tease and these are sold out – but, you should still check out their site.

SWOON! Mustaches out of type at Old Tom Foolery.

And lastly…amazing pencil sculptures by Dalton Ghetti here.

No time to blog anymore

I used to blog every day and now I barely get on Facebook! Haha, that’s not necessarily a bad thing I guess. But I do really miss my blog.

I’m getting ready to embark on the new DeBrand catalog…make that 6 catalogs. DeBrand has had 2 catalogs for years and now we’re switching to 6! Okay, only the 8 exterior pages are changing with each catalog, but still! I’m not complaining though. I’m so excited to do some serious design work.

Anyways, I’ve been looking at some of my favorite blogs for inspiration for anything and everything and here’s a little bit of what I’ve found:

Paper Hamburgers! Too cute. Find them here.

Gorgeous packaging for honey here.

Fancy pencil packaging – Heather, I thought of you when I saw this. It’s a student project here.

Mobiles on Etsy – felted beauty! Find these and some neat pillows here.

My website is finally here! I admit I took my time with this one, but that’s probably because I was my own client, which meant no real deadline. Not to mention I’m a procrastinator at heart. Anyways, if you would like to visit it go to

The rest of my day has been filled with mac ‘n cheese and more of LOST Season 5. I actually walked/ran on the treadmill after work last night and I feel great! I knew I would, I just needed to force myself to go. I’m going to make it a routine to work out after work – I’ll have no time to think twice about it because it’s just right down the hall. Plus, there’s cable to watch and since I’ll be working out around 11PM, I’ll have the gym to myself (i.e. no one will see just how out of shape I am, haha).

I also ordered my bridesmaid dress today! We actually picked a different dress than the one I previously posted a few weeks ago:

And these are our pretty silver shoes:

That’s all for now!

I am feeling very productive today because I am organizing all of my bookmarked items in Firefox and Safari. My list of links was so long it was nuts trying to find what I wanted! The best part is that I found some sites/artists I had forgot about. Here are some of my favorites:

I will end on the wonderful cat illustration above because I am truly a cat lady in the making.
